About the Böhme Sisters
Böhme was founded by Vivien and Fernanda Böhme, two sisters from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who immigrated to the United States as young girls. With the usual struggles of an immigrant family, work was inevitable from an early age. Their strong work ethic, dedication, and passion for success lead to them opening Böhme in 2006 at just 23 & 24 years old. Böhme is led by Vivien’s mind for business as CEO and Fernanda’s eye for design as Creative Director. Today we have store locations across the western US and employ over 200 women.
To us fashion isn’t just about clothing, it's about finding your personal style, discovering what makes you feel your best, and showing the world who you really are. We’re here to help you find what makes you look and feel your most beautiful. When you come into a Böhme, you’re our newest BFF! Our team is here to help you overcome the hard days, the insecurities, and the frustration of shopping to find exactly what you’re looking for. We believe in putting each other first and we know that sometimes a little retail therapy is just what the doctor ordered. So feel free to browse around, try things on, or even just drop in and say hi to the team!
Each piece of clothing developed by Böhme is designed and crafted with quality and style in mind. Our team of designers and buyers search far and wide to curate the best materials and manufacturers. Each piece is personally tried on by and fitted to members of our team to make sure our clothes fit real bodies, not mannequins.
We at Böhme strive to work only with factories that provide a living wage and humane working conditions when developing pieces for our own private labels, which are manufactured both in the USA and abroad. However, we do also carry outside brands over whose processes we have no control, and so, unfortunately, cannot guarantee that each is engaging in ethical work practices. We are constantly trying to improve, and so hope to develop all pieces ourselves in the future, thereby being able to ensure ethical practices for all our products.
Böhme was founded with a firm belief in giving back to our communities. Each year, we seek out nonprofit organizations and causes for which to raise funds and awareness and encourage our employees to do the same. To date we’ve worked with local women's shelters, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Younique Foundation, and orphanages in Fernanda and Vivien’s native country of Brazil. We also offer paid time off to employees to volunteer within their own communities with organizations of their choice.
Böhme has been named one of the Top Women-Run Businesses on the Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Companies and featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, US Weekly, and Cosmopolitan Magazine. Most recently, Böhme was awarded the SBA Utah Top Business of the Year and Vivien and Fernanda were named the Utah recipients of the Small Business Person of the Year awards as well as Sandy Business Person of the Year. Böhme has also consistently been voted one of the Salt Lake Tribune’s Top Workplaces by our employees.
